Privacy Policy

1. Overview
Annotarium is a browser-based PDF annotation app. Core annotation and marking tools run locally in your browser.
2. Data We Process
- Hosting and security: Annotarium is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process IP address and request metadata to deliver content and prevent abuse.
- Analytics (optional): If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 may collect usage data such as page views and events, and may set cookies or similar identifiers.
- Authentication (optional): If you sign in with Microsoft, we process your account identifier to authenticate you.
- OneDrive (optional): If you use OneDrive import, we send your share link and selected file metadata to our server to fetch the file via Microsoft Graph.
- AI and OCR (optional): If you use AI grading, summarisation, or OCR, the relevant text, images, or PDF data is sent to our server and processed by third-party providers to generate results.
- Error monitoring (automatic): We use Sentry to collect error reports and performance data to improve the app. This may include technical information about errors and browser context, but not your PDF content.
3. Cookies
Analytics cookies are used only if you grant consent. Cloudflare may set security cookies to protect the site from abuse.
4. Local Storage and Device Data
Annotarium stores some data locally in your browser (for example, annotation library items, recovery snapshots, and analytics consent). This data stays on your device and not on any of our servers, and can be cleared via your browser settings.
5. Data Retention
We retain data only as needed to provide the requested features and maintain service security. Server logs may keep limited request metadata for operational and security purposes.
6. Your Choices
- You can use core features without signing in.
- You can decline analytics in the consent banner.
- You can clear local storage at any time in your browser settings.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as functionality changes. The "Last updated" date will reflect the latest version.
